Why can't I turn on safe mode in my ps3 super slim? Alright , so , I have tried to follow the rules in Playstation.com of how to get into safe mode but it doesn't work on super slim . I don't know if it doesn't even work in super slim , but the only reason i need it is that whenever I try restoring my corrupt data , it gets stuck at 47% . I have connected another ssd to install the update there, but it tells me to press start+select to search for flash drives, and the flash drives don't get recognised by the ps3. I have also tried booting to safe mode, but it didn't work. Tldr; My ps3 got stuck in an update loop and I want to find a way to fix it other than formatting my hdd.
Insert HDD and boot into Safe Mode. Change storage to Flash Storage. Reboot Safe Mode. Change storage to HDD. Reboot Safe Mode. Proceed with Update (unplug controller when checking for update). New HDD detected (finally). Yes to format HDD. Update is detected (FINALLY) and starts.

This is a slim ps3, CECH-2501A. I did the safe mode recovery sequence, doesn't work. Goes straight to update process. I don't mind replacing the HDD, which would cancel the update process. Now I have other hdd, the ps3 turns on and after afews mins it turns itself off. The Internal HDD is ntfs and is not formatted for ps3. I'm able to go into safe mode, but I'm not prompted to format the HDD, all the options I try either say cannot access hdd or system storage not found. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button." Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PlayStation 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode. You will now see the Safe Mode menu.
Save in following order: Storage Media ( Flash Drive ) > PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP ( rename the download file to PS3UPDAT.PUP if the file name is different. This is important!) My PS3 is stuck in an infinite loop of restoring the file system . I had a corrupt game on my Ps3 so I went into safe mode and put it to restore file system but every time the bar fills up and the system restarts, it keeps saying that my file system is corrupt and does the process again but it just continues like this in a loop.

I think you should see what's going on the drive socket in the motherboard. Take a brush teeth and a little bit of alcohol and clean it good. Then use a hairdryer for a seconds to dry the liquid. If that doesn't work, maybe you have a hardware problem on the PS3.

Hi guys and girls. My PS3 Slim is stuck in an update loop. It loads up to 24% and then stops and gives me the 8002f147 error. I've checked the forums out and most of them advise to put the PS3 into safe mode and update from there, unfortunately I can't seem to put it into safe mode.
So, a friend of mine just gave me his PS3 and it was working just fine. I went to update it to the new update 4.84 or something or other, and now it's stuck on an update loop. Does anyone know a fix for it that doesn't involve taking the HDD and formating it etc? I need help. I'm not familiar with the PS3 hardware. Its a fatboi (original lol) 82GB.

Then, press on hold power button again -> 1st beep -> continue to press and old -> double beep -> release the button. now you should be in the recovery.
